Maine Cyber-Defense Competition 2010
On Saturday, March 20th, 2010, the department hosted the first Maine Cyber Defense Competition (MECDC), a collaborative effort of the department and the University of Maine System (UMS) campuses at Augusta (UMA), Fort Kent (UMFK), and Presque Isle (UMPI).
The day-long event featured poster sessions in addition to the main attraction: a competition in which student teams had to remove vulnerabilities from their networked computers and defend them from break-in attempts by a designated "Red Team" of attackers.
Six teams made it to this finals round. Finishing in the top three spots were
- John Bapst memorial High School;
- Lake Region High School;
- Winslow High School.
